Coca-Cola Truck & Finished Chicken Cross Stitch...

Just a few photographs of the Coca-Cola truck which visited our local Asda store today :0) my bestest friend Genie and I went down and took some photos!!!

I finished my Chickens cross stitch today as well...here it is:
I need to frame it somehow & present it to my friends (that I dog sit for) for Christmas :0) I hope it will warm their hearts as they recently lost one of the dogs to some unknown illness. They went to the Vets and Kali (the dog) baffled them, so my friend made the brave decision to let her babygirl go to sleep (as she didn't want Kali to be in pain)...Kali was my favourite dog out my friends 6 dogs so I miss her greatly! My friends do have 4 chickens so that's why I chose to stitch some chickens...

I hope you like my pictures if you have looked at my blog today! I hope your weekend has been great...mine was quite festive as I went to watch the Christmas lights be turned on in our local town followed by watching a Christmas movie with my best friend on Saturday...then today we saw the Coca-Cola truck :0)

I hope the coming week is good for you all...

Happy Friday!!!

I have had a productive morning so far! I have cancelled my car insurance with Aviva as I found it almost £100 cheaper elsewhere (it really pays to shop around!)...I booked my car in for its 3 year service and MOT on Tuesday but my Dad is going to have to drop me off at work that day :0)...

I'm having my hair done this afternoon & finishing off some bits of Christmas shopping...what a lovely day off :0)...might manage some stitching later too ~ get those Chickens finished...

I hope you have a lovely Friday too...& thanks for reading my blog if you have done!!!

Home Made Vegetable Soup...

Over the weekend I thought I would get creative...I will take photos next time!!! I made Vegetable Soup following this recipe here: Chunky Vegetable Soup :0) the only differences I made were I substituted a leek for the celery, added a bit of water extra to the water mixed with the stock, didn't put it through the blender I merely mashed 1/2 of the soup mixture with a potato masher lol and then added pasta at the end...it is beautiful!!! I've been taking it to work this week for my lunch.

I made a large saucepan full and froze 3/4 of it, I have been getting my portions out of the freezer of an evening then decanting it (when it is defrosted, usually in the morning) into my newly dubbed "soup cup" which has a lid for spill free transportation...I am enjoying it immensely and think that I shall call Sundays from now on "Souper Sundays" as I think I shall be making various batches of different soups most Sundays for my lunches at work the following week.

You'd think this would be boring having soup each day BUT NO, I am mixing it up a bit because on Monday I took a granary roll with me, today was sesame Ryvita crispbread and tomorrow I'm not sure what I shall rustle up ;0) I like the idea that I know exactly what went into my soup and it's probably quite low in calories. The pasta I used was white pasta but with wholewheat, like this:
It is scrummy!!! I didn't add any extra seasoning or salt/pepper and think that the soup is tasty enough without. When I chopped up my potato I just scrubbed it clean and kept the skin on so that adds a bit of a different colour and texture, the carrot and swede add even more colour and if you wanted a bit of variety you could add peas, brocolli, squash, tomatoes...you name it and you could probably add it to this delicious soup recipe!

On Sunday I think I shall attempt this one: Easy Vegetable Soup Recipe as it includes tomatoes and a LOT of the vegetables that I had left over from my soup session on Sunday just gone (well they'll need using up at some point)...

Yummy! Give soup making a try. You'll be surprised at the results...I sure was! I shall 100% be making more soup. I reckon using the quantities in the top link for Chunky Vegetable soup you could feed 4 maybe as a main meal or more as a lunch time snack if you were having a sandwich too. Of course you don't have to blend it/mash it at all, you could leave it as it is and it would just be extra chunky ;0)

Thanks for reading (if you have done) I shall post again with more of my soup adventures on my "Souper Sundays"...

I was...

...wearing my Poppy with pride yesterday...never forget those who have lost their lives fighting for our country...be proud of them every Remembrance Sunday & every day in fact!!!

I spent years of my youth going to Remembrance parades as a Brownie & Guide...I remember many services stood outside in the howling winds & rain in Scotland (cos that's where I grew up!)...this year I did not go to a parade but I adhered to the silence at 11am & have been wearing my poppy pin for about a week & a half prior to Remembrance Day! :0)

I hope you all wore your Poppy with pride too...

Chickens Update...

I finished the 4th chicken...yay!!! Here he/she is looking very smart :0)

Here's the whole design...

And the back stitch font along one side...

I also went to Highway Garden Centre today (http://www.highwaygardenandleisure.co.uk/) along with my parents to see their Christmas displays and took a few photos whilst I was up there...
 a very smart penguin family...
beautiful Christmas lights display...
santa band...
baby penguin...

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend whatever you have been doing. Apart from visiting Highway today the rest of the day has been a bit of a waste, no stitching involved at all. I've had a horrible headache for the majority of the day so been snuggled up reading my book with my glasses off (which helped a lot), then watched Attenborough's Ark followed by the Strictly Results show *bye bye Fern*

Now I'm sat watching Flying Wild Alaska, then it shall be bed time before a busy week at work. It's my 6th week in my new job and I'm still enjoying it each and every day which is fabulous!

I hope that you have enjoyed looking at my pictures (many thanks for looking at my blog if you have :0)...
Enjoy your week!

Fireworks night...

...the extent of my family fireworks consisted of 4 free sparklers that we got with the Daily Mail paper :0)...
...I have had such an ear ache tonight that I dashed outside all wrapped up (including wearing a hat with fluffy ear flaps) & had a bit of fun waving my sparklers around while my Mum attempted to take some photos lol...it was fun :0) surprisingly haven't heard that many fireworks go off near us tonight, think they mainly got let off over the weekend!
...I went to a small display on Friday night which was really good. I went along with my best friend & her boyfriend :0)
...Hope everyone has had a safe Fireworks night (if you've been out anywhere watching any) & thanks for reading my blog :0)

Chickens!!!

I am stitching some chickens for my friends with 6 German Shorthair Pointers as they also have chickens (& cats, a bearded dragon, hamster and 2 gerbils) which I animal-sit for occasionally...I am stitching 4 chickens for them (as they have 4 chickens) and I have done 3 so far...

I should really finish one project before I start another shouldn't I??? Lol, I'm the same with books...I've got about 3 on the go at the moment that I have partially started :0/...oops!

Here are some photos of the chickens so far (excuse the crumpled fabric):
I hope that you like my progress so far...just got the chicken at the top and a border left to do. These chickens were from Cross Stitch Crazy (although I can't remember what issue)...
Thanks for looking and Happy Sunday!!!
